New Mum Vs Pandemic

Personal

How to be a new mum in a pandemic… and hey, let’s throw “businesses owner” in there too if you are one!

Here’s the summarized version – I have no %^&*!$^ clue. Just keep going!

I was chatting with another mom friend of mine the other day who has been through this pandemic in much the same manner as myself. Learning we were pregnant before the pandemic started, navigating the anxiety ridden waters of what this pandemic would mean in so many respects – from the pregnancy, to health throughout, to the births, to keeping our businesses afloat. And let’s not forget to mention – the isolation.

Truth is, there is no way to handle this the right way. We’ve known that from the start but every now and then we need a little reminder… so here is the reminder today for me and for you:

  • This baby of yours is divine timing. The timing is perfect. They are perfect.
  • It’s ok to not be operating as normal. This is not a normal time.
  • It’s ok to not be the perfect mom – there is no such thing anyways – your baby thinks you are perfect.
  • We are navigating having and raising babies in the most isolating of times in the history of EVER. Keep talking with other mommas about the hard stuff and the weird stuff. You are NOT ALONE.
  • Even if they can’t be with you, your friends and family love you and your baby beyond measure.
  • You can only do your best with what you have – be it time, resources, community, health etc. Your business will follow suit. Make you and your baby priority.

Like many of you I have grieved and am still in the process of grieving what I thought would be this time in my life, in Hazel’s life. With restrictions ramping up for yet a third time, this will mean an even lengthier time away from those ideals.

You are doing great, mamma. Just keep going!
